Emerging Leader Programme + Q&A with Fiona Milligan
Following the success of our December assessment centre, this week saw our Emerging Leaders gather for the first time to attend our Emerging Leader Programme.
Run by our Talent & Leadership Partners, Ashley Baxter and Mark Muir, the sessions focused upon fundamental leadership skills, and explored how we choose to ‘show up’ for our people.
Activities included a trip to the Port of Nigg (one of Scotland's most important energy industry facilities which is recognised for its world-class multi-sector capability), and was concluded with a visit from our Chairman Roy MacGregor and People and Culture Director Christine Cochrane, who shared their individual leadership journeys.
Here at Global Energy Group, we are excited to provide sustainable growth for the future by investing in our people today!

Q&A With Emerging Leader, Fiona Milligan
Tell us about you… what’s your work history to date?
"My name is Fiona Milligan and I'm currently the Senior Recruitment Specialist on the Commercial desk for Global Highland. I have had a variety of roles from my first job as a Customer Service Agent for BMIbaby airline (checking passengers, boarding them on flights and wishing I was off somewhere hot too!), Team Member at Millies Cookies while at University in Dundee, Account Manager for London Translations and Global Voices, and then an Account Manager for Fishers Services where I got to visit many hotels within the Highlands meeting many deer along the way!"
Who or what inspired you to peruse the career you have today?
"My Dad. As cheesy as it sounds, my Dad has been such an inspiration throughout my life, from being a butcher just outside Glasgow to building his career in finance bringing him all over the world. His strong work ethic, determination and curiosity throughout while raising eight children really was something to behold! I have always been interested in relationship building and supporting people to reach their goals. This role with Global Highland has been exactly that and more while developing my skills in different areas."
Can you provide details of a professional accomplishment in the group that you are proud of?
"Being promoted to Senior Recruitment Specialist through hitting targets, increasing GP and general positive attitude, and also being successful to get on to the Emerging Leaders course. The application process for the Emerging Leaders course was challenging, especially when we were asked to present on a topic to senior management within the Global Group!"
What inspires you, and do you have any personal goals that you are hoping to achieve?
"The desire to find out how far I can go both professionally and personally, and being able to make a difference, no matter how small, along the way. A personal goal of mine is to one day learn to play cello. I currently play violin (not very well), but would love to be able to pick up a cello and play it."
What motivates and energises you at work?
"Meeting such a variety of people on a daily basis. Getting to know our candidates and clients well to ensure we are providing the best service and matching the right person with the right job."
Which of our Core Values means the most to you and why?
"Demonstrate Integrity and Respect – demonstrating care, honesty and fairness in all of our dealings, with all of our stakeholders. Although this is one of GEG Capital's core values, it's also a personal core value of mine to ensure I am leading an honest and fair life each day, setting an example and standard to each person I meet."
